Full Mouth and Bite Restoration
|
|
Patients are recommended to have a full mouth and bite restoration when simple fillings
or an individual crown cannot suffice the requirement. In certain situations like
poor bite, aggressive tooth wear, accidents to the mouth, advanced decay it becomes
necessary for the whole mouth to be redone in what is called a full mouth reconstruction.
The teeth, gums, jaw muscles, and jaw joints are part of a system referred to as
the Masticatory system and all parts of this system interact with each other. Excessive
mechanical stress may occur from outside traumas, but the common reason is misfit
of the upper and lower teeth. This condition is called a bite problem. The treatment
will at first reduce the cause of mechanical stress to a level to stop further structural
damage & eliminate pain. Then the damaged structures are repaired by altering the
bite, restoration of teeth or TMJ surgery.
